Kathy Ure

Kathy, a repeat Ontario Provincial Bantam-Weight Champion and National Gold Medalist in 2003, is well known throughout Canadian boxing for her dynamic style and energy. She has recently retired from competition, but now divides her free time between the responsibilities of a Level 3 Coach and Level 3 Boxing Official.  Additionally, she serves on the executive panel for Boxing Ontario and is involved in training current National athletes. Her efforts outside of the ring, have been focused on generating public awareness about the sport of boxing through media appearances and volunteer work. Kathy’s love of boxing has driven her to develop and instruct a nationwide program for youth, in both elementary and secondary schools called “Box-On”.

Kathy packs as much into her day as her punch. At Sarnia Hospital, Kathy works full-time as an operating room nurse. During the winter months Kathy also works as a cycling instructor for the National Cycling Team and in her spare time, she teaches aerobics. Kathy’s most recent accomplishments in sport include winning two 1st place finishes competing in Duathlon races, 1 on road race and 1 off road race.
